Performair – PerformCam iOS prototype 1
“Perform your Sport”
Over the past few months, I have been working with Michael, Adrian, Florian and Tobias on PerformCam. The goal is to make it really simple for amateur sports enthusiasts to create videos of themselves: for fun or to build their social media presence.
The team is currently in the Gateway Incubator program of Köln University. The location is no-nonsense and inspiring. The workshops are excellent with top speakers and an inspiring selection of topics.
My role is Technical Advisor, and I am building the initial iOS prototype. Since exact requirements are not known at this stage, I went all-in on vibe coding. I hardly look at the code. I just know it is bloated and that is ok. Even though my mental model of the architecture matches what is changing in each iteration, I am certain we will need a major refactoring once the feature set stabilizes.
Among what I built so far, these are my personal highlights:
Virtual PTZ
Grab the full camera resolution and crop it into a 9:16 social-media-friendly video format. Optional person tracking included.

Watch video preview and control
Stream the video to an Apple Watch and let users adjust the PTZ position remotely.
Remote control via Watch and speech
Start and stop recordings using the Apple Watch or voice commands.

Buffered video recording
Start a recording after the highlight happened.
Video gallery with dynamic preview sizes
1–3 videos always display large and centered, playing in full. Many others remain visible and easily accessible.
